Airbnb Makes it Easier and Safer for New Hosts – Hotel Magazine

Airbnb has introduced a new Airbnb Setup to make it easy for people to host across the country. The company will also provide more AirCover for Hosts and add six new Airbnb Categories for customers to discover places they never knew existed.

With the rising cost of living, earning extra cash through hosting has proven to be a good idea for many members on Airbnb. Since the beginning of the pandemic, over 60 million visitors have visited the Host page. According to a recent survey from Airbnb Hosts, over 32 percent of Hosts in New Zealand claimed their earned money helped pay for their own home, and 45 percent said they used the extra money to pay for food and other essentials.

“Today, just like during the Great Recession in 2008, people are especially interested in earning extra income through hosting,” stated Brian Chesky, Ceo and Co-Founder of Airbnb. “That’s why we’re introducing an easy way for millions of people to Airbnb their homes.”

New homes on Airbnb are getting booked almost immediately, with half of the listings receiving their first reservation within three days.

The Airbnb Setup is an all-new way to Airbnb a home, including free one-to-one guidance from a Superhost. When a new Host begins their Airbnb setup, they will be matched with a Superhost for guidance from initial questions to hosting their first guest. With the opportunity to chat with Superhosts over audio, video, or messaging, Airbnb will launch 1,500 Superhosts in over 80 countries dedicated to helping new Hosts learn the ropes.

Airbnb Setup will also allow new Hosts to welcome experienced guests to try their new place for feedback. New Hosts will have access to specialised support from Airbnb, which includes connecting with Community Support agents who will help with any account issues.

“With even more AirCover for Hosts, now is the perfect time to put your place on Airbnb,” Chesky added.

Last November, Airbnb introduced AirCover to provide thorough protection for every Host. The support system is undergoing significant upgrades, including guest identity verification, damage protection, and screening technology.

Airbnb will triple its damage protection from one million to three million dollars, covering the Hosts home and contents. This protection expands across auto vehicles and boats stored at the property, and arts and valuable of appraised value.

Reservation screening technology will launch in the US and Canada, helping to reduce the chance of disruptive parties. This technology will expand worldwide in Spring 2023.

Airbnb will also expand its identity verification to all booking guests travelling to the top 35 countries and regions of Airbnb – representing 90 percent of all reservations. The worldwide expansion of this technology will happen in Spring 2023.

Six new categories have been added to Airbnb’s system as they continue to improve what is easily accessible to visitors. These categories include:

“New” shows homes added to Airbnb within the past ten weeks, and “Trending” gives highly-rated homes that received more listing views than previous weeks.

“Top of the World” is full of homes around 10,000 feet above sea level. “Hanoks” lists traditional Korean homes constructed of natural materials.

Homes alternated for wheelchair access and verified, step-free paths are under “Adapted”.

“Play” is where guests can find homes with basketball courts, game rooms, miniature golf, water slides, and more.

Airbnb has also improved the search algorithm to help people find what they are typically most interested in, such as what distances are from landmarks and what type of views visitors can expect.

Airbnb Setup, upgrades to AirCover, and new Airbnb Categories will start rolling out worldwide this week.
