AirAsia bosses cleared from allegations of Airbus bribery, reinstated

AirAsia Team Bhd (AirAsia) main government officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and government chairman Datuk Kamarudin Meranun have been cleared by the BDO Governance Advisory Sdn Bhd (BDO) from corruption allegations related to the Airbus scandal.

In February, both Fernandes and Kamruddin relinquished their government positions for two months following allegation that the airline been given a US$50 million bribe from aircraft manufacturer Airbus.

The allegations, dependent on the UK’s Severe
Fraud Workplace (SFO) doc, said the airline maker had also made available
US$fifty five million a lot more to sponsor a sports team linked to two unnamed executives
from the airways.

Administrators of AAB at the applicable time.”

The sponsorship also confirmed demonstrable
rewards to the AirAsia Team and was not linked to any obtain conclusions by the
group.

“The two executives (Fernandes and Kamarudin)
had properly disclosed their passions to AirAsia’s board B and abstained from
conversations and/or conclusions relating to the claimed sponsorships.”

The two Fernandes and Kamarudin had categorically denied all allegations of wrongdoing or misconduct, and had made available their entire cooperation in the investigation.
