Channel 4 confirm Gemma Atkinson will return to Hollyoaks

After there had been rumours of a possible return to Hollyoaks, it has been confirmed that Gemma Atkinson will be making a guest return as her character of Lisa Hunter.

It was first reported by the Radio Times that she’ll back be, and it is understood to be a temporary role.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Akinson said: ““I’m thrilled to be popping back to Hollyoaks for a short time. It’s where my career began so of course, I was going to say yes!

“The cast and crew are so wonderful and although we have stayed in touch personally, it’ll be great to work together again professionally. I am very grateful to the team at Hits Radio for allowing me to pop back for a short while.”

Atkinson first played the role of Lisa on Hollyoaks in 2001 and stayed on until 2005.

She also appeared in the spin-off Hollyoaks: After Hours before moving on.

Her role as Carly Hope on Emmerdale was her next big thing, where she played the character from 2007 to 2015.

Appearances on reality shows such as I’m a Celebrity…Get me Out of Here and Strictly Come Dancing, where she finished third in 2017, have kept her in the public eye.

Currently she presents on Hits Radio and Steph’s Packed Lunch.

She is also currently engaged to Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez, and the pair have a two-year-old daughter together, called Mia Louise Marquez.
